Volunteer With Liberty Fire District
Your Community. Your Skills. Your Opportunity to Serve.
Liberty Fire District is Operated by Volunteers—people who give their time to help neighbors during emergencies and keep our community safe.
We welcome both experienced responders and people who are completely new to the fire service. No previous experience is necessary. We provide the training needed for your assigned role.
Find Your Place on Our Team
Volunteer Firefighters
Train to respond to fires, rescues, and other emergencies. Your responsibilities develop as you complete training and meet the qualifications for each assignment.
Medical Responders
Help provide emergency medical first response. Whether you already hold medical certifications or want to begin learning, contact us about available opportunities and training.
Drivers and Apparatus Operators
Help get personnel, equipment, and water to emergency scenes. Driving and operating District vehicles requires appropriate training, qualifications, and authorization.
Support Members
You can make a valuable contribution without becoming an emergency responder. Opportunities may include community outreach, fire safety education, administrative assistance, events, and other department support.
Cadet Members
Our cadet program gives eligible applicants under age 18 an opportunity to learn about the fire service, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and participate in approved activities under supervision.
Cadets are not firefighters. Participation is subject to program eligibility, parental or guardian consent, and restrictions appropriate to their age and training. Contact us for minimum-age requirements and program details.
Adult membership is available to applicants age 18 and older. All applicants must complete the District’s applicable membership and screening requirements.
Why Volunteer?
- Help your neighbors. Make a meaningful difference when people need assistance.
- Learn useful skills. Build knowledge that can help you in emergencies, everyday life, and future opportunities.
- Become part of a team. Develop friendships with people who share a commitment to service.
- Challenge yourself. Grow through training, responsibility, and new experiences.
- Take pride in your community. Contribute directly to the safety and well-being of the people around you.
Training and Participation
Regular department training takes place on Tuesday nights.
For adult response members, our expected quarterly participation includes:
- Attendance at at least 50% of Tuesday night training sessions.
- Response to at least 10% of District calls, consistent with the member’s qualifications and authorized duties.
We understand that volunteers have jobs, families, school, and other responsibilities. If your schedule presents challenges, talk with us. We will work with you to explore a suitable role and discuss participation expectations.
Training and participation requirements for support members and cadets are based on their assigned roles and program requirements. Additional training may be necessary to obtain required qualifications.
