Plans & Development Review

Liberty Fire District reviews subdivision plans, commercial development plans, and commercial building plans for projects located within the District. Fire safety review helps ensure that proposed development provides appropriate emergency access, fire protection, and life safety features.

Property owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals should coordinate with the District early in the planning process to identify applicable requirements and avoid delays.

Florida Fire Safety Requirements

Florida Statutes Chapters 553 and 633 establish requirements for building permitting and fire safety enforcement. Section 553.79 generally requires the appropriate certified fire safety inspector to review building plans for compliance with applicable fire safety codes before a building permit is issued. Section 633.208 requires local authorities with fire safety responsibilities to enforce the Florida Fire Prevention Code.

District review addresses the fire and life safety requirements applicable to the proposed development, building, or use.
