Home Fire Safety Inspection

Liberty Fire District offers voluntary home fire safety visits to residents within our district. At your request, a District Fire Inspector or Volunteer  will visit your home, discuss potential fire hazards, and recommend practical steps to help protect your household.

This service is optional. Residents are not required to request or participate in a home fire safety visit.

What Does a Visit Include?

With your permission, the inspector can review common household fire safety concerns, including:

  • Smoke alarm placement and carbon monoxide alarms, where applicable.
  • Home escape routes and a family meeting place.
  • Cooking, heating, and electrical fire hazards.
  • Safe storage of combustible and flammable materials.
  • Fire extinguisher placement and basic use.
  • Escape considerations for children, older adults, and people with disabilities.

Your Home Fire Safety Action Plan

Following the visit, the inspector will provide a recommended action plan identifying concerns and practical improvements. Recommendations will help you prioritize steps to reduce fire risks and improve your household’s ability to escape an emergency.

A home fire safety visit is an educational service. It does not replace a professional electrical, structural, or other specialized inspection, and it cannot guarantee that a home is free of fire hazards.
